Selection of Craft Products
These bags have been mostly made from vintage hemp, linen, and cotton fibres grown and woven in Romanian homes during the Communist Period. Margaret buys the material and gives it to women in the Gypsy village on the edge of Tileagd and they embroider it or sew on button patterns. It is an opportunity for the women to show that they do have skills and they are then able to make choices in their lives.
All the bags are lined and the larger ones have inside pockets. Some of the larger bags have a gusset at the bottom and /or at the sides and some have a tag and large button closure. Bags can be made to individual specifications as well as other special orders.
All of the designs on bags also exist as cushion covers. These have button closures and are about 46 cm square.
